Ode to Blogger and a God who speaks Chinese...

I, Lynsie Nicole Armstrong, have had this Blog for nearly 3 months now (give or take a couple of weeks.. not entirely sure of the exact date) and have yet to write anything.

Why?

Because I suffer from "dontwanttostartanythingtillihaveitperfectlyplannedoutaphobia" (see Beth Moore's LPM Blog post) I'd been postponing until I picked my favorite font and cute lil' add ons. And as you can see said thing never happened. Not to say it won't... indeed it will in due time. But the Lord's teaching me this little lesson about being ready "in season and out of season," and sometimes we make the mistake of waiting until things are lined up and laid out just so. And before we know it; we missed it because we were afraid to just stinking take the step and do it. Afraid to mess up, (insert your fear here), etc.

Let me clarify that I'm not saying don't ever wait (some of the best seasons are those in the spiritual waiting room) but if the Lord has given you (us, me) a revealed thing to do... why don't you (we, I) go ahead and do it? Make the move. Take the step. Buy the plane ticket. Sell the house. Clean out your closet and give to those in need. Write the check. Ask her out. Make the call. Quit the job. Take a risk. Give. Teach. Talk. Listen. Write the blog. Whatever.

So why am I even do this?

Margaret told me to. (Or God told Margaret to tell me to.)

Who's Margaret?

My Chinese friend from Hong Kong.

We had just spent two hours talking with our new Saudi Arabian friend, Hatoon (who I'm sure you'll come to know more of in the coming days and weeks) and were making the treck back through Hyde Park in awestruck solitude over the conversation we had just left. When out of the blue sweet Margaret says, "You know, Lynsie, God is going to use your writing." I proceeded to question her randomness, and remind her that we have never talked about that before. (Of course I had just journalled about the very thing the night before, but had kept the thought on lock down.) She explained in her little Margaret voice that I have much to say from my experiences and need to share it.

Another silent moment... only to be broken by probably my favorite quote of all time:

"You know, Lynsie... sometimes the Lord speaks to me about you. And it's always in Chinese!!"

So there you have it.

Love you all,

Lynsie
